Paul Panzera started the restaurant, first known as Paul’s Pantry in 1966 while in High School. It was a 12-seat counter with four booths and large plate glass windows on Third Avenue. Often times, the same person that took your order also prepared your food. The classic 60’s diner, with an open kitchen, became a favorite for breakfast and lunch.
In 1979 the operation moved from Third Avenue to the present location on Fifth Avenue. Today, the counter has become a trademark of
Paul’s. People of all ages and types come for the bustling sounds of the open kitchen and the best breakfast in the city.
