This tiny deli/sandwich/hot dog/ sausage shop is in the back corner of the North Market. Someone told me that Nida or Nida's Sushi runs the place.
It's just a fast food place with a significant retail deli operation, with a sizable assortment of specialty foods. There is nothing to it really, except they know how to make a mean Chicago hot dog and make crazy good gigantic paninis.
It's not easy to make an authentic Chicago dog. You need the poppy seed bun, a large beefy hot dog, neon green sweet relish, poppers, dill pickle, mustard, tomato, and celery salt. Theirs is competitive with anything I've had in Chicago or anywhere else.
Some people will complain about their dog or sausage being plucked from a rotating hot dog cooker that looks like it belongs in an age-old 7-11 or a movie theater. Personally, I think it just adds to the fun.
But the big surprise is their panini, which are made on white bread that is sliced thin and seems about a foot long. My personal favorite is the Sausalito Turkey, which is thinly sliced turkey,pepperjack cheese, lettuce, tomato, and a delicious chipotle mayo, toasted crunchy. Man, is it good and a bargain for under $6.
