Neighborhood Gem With Great Burgers +
Park Creek has only been open for a week or so, but word is already spreading. They have a great location in the old Arlington Pizza & Meatballs/Bellasari's location in downtown Arlington, and they are serving up some interesting and tasty food.
They have worked hard to get the local ingredients just right - the produce, meat, poultry and fish are farmed or harvested locally, in a sustainable manner. Even the wood for the tables is from Ohio someone said.
We were there for lunch, and it's an interesting menu - not pub grub. Yes they have fried pickles and chicken wings, but also calamari, and mussels with smoked bacon, corn broth, scallions, candied garlic, and grilled breadpickles.
For lunch they have soups, salads, sandwiches, burgers, and some big plates including chicken, tuna, salmon, prime rib, and pasta. Not an enormous range but all good choices.
Burgers seem to be a specialty of theirs, and my favorite dish. Someone recently said "I love my wife, but burgers are my mistress". If that's you, head on down to PCK for a terrific burger, one of the best in the city - freshly made, with four different toppings combinations, and french fried potatoes - mixed, sweet and regular white. These are big burgers, and you're gonna look good with yours all over your face, because they are really sloppy and delicious. My wife had the smoked chicken sandwich with vinegar and orange soda sauce, coleslaw, and cheddar cheese, and she loved it. These guys aren't fooling around - they are serious about their food. I have to go back for the three little pigs - fried pork cutlet, smoked bacon, pulled pork, and Amish swiss cheese.
PCK is working on a liquor licence, an absolute(!) must-have key to any restaurant in Arlington. Once they get that, this place is going to be hard to get into. You'll know they have it when you see the acoustic guitarist outside - they plan on live entertainment once the licence is in place. This has been a tough location for previous occupants - please give them a try, you'll be impressed too.
