Shoku

Shoku is one of my favorite spots in Grandview. It has been very successful, standing the test of time on a strip that has seen its fair share of restaurant failures.

Shoku features Thai and Japanese dishes, with a full sushi bar in the back. I have never thought their sushi was as good as, say, Akai Hana, but it is still pretty good. They have all of your favorites, although I have to warn you, service, especially with sushi, can be very slow.

As a main course they serve a variety of mostly Japanese dishes featuring seat, beef, or pork. They also have a few wraps and noodle dishes. My personal favorite on the menu is the ahi tuna salad, which is served with rare tuna and a delicious carrot miso dressing.

There is a large patio which can get pretty busy during the season. The inside is a modern motif, with a certain kinetic energy that unfortunately doesn't translate into good service.

It is hard to find a place to park here. there are a handful of spots along the northern wall of the restaurant, and even fewer on the south side. More likely, you can find a place in the parking lot behind Panera's across the street.

There have been increasing reports of poor food and service so keep us posted on your experience.
