Delray French Cafe
Inside the former Cold Stone Creamery lies Cafe de France, an warm, adorable little cafe perched just above action on the sidewalk on Atlantic Ave.
The couple that owns and operates the cafe serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. They have a counter inside where they sell a variety of baked goods and do a good breakfast business in the morning.
It wasn't crowded the Monday we walked in for lunch, so we got a primo seat on the balcony. I ordered the charcuterie sampler, which included three sandwiches comprised of cheese and a different meat - one had sausage, one a delicious ham, and the third was a pate with cornichons. Good as it was, I couldn't finish it. My wife had the Niçoise salad, and said it was very tasty.
Service was good, but of course there was hardly anyone there.
They also have a small but decent wine list, mostly French obviously.
One thing to beware of is they let people smoke on the balcony. There was a group of 6 rather boisterous French speaking folks who kept an unwelcome plume of smoke wafting our way. Don't believe it's legal inside.
